Neurology

About Us:

The neurology and neurosurgery service is staffed by a European Board-certified Neurologist and sees a wide range of patients on a referral-appointment basis. The services sees both medical and surgical neurology cases, and liases closely with the emergency medicine, surgery, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging services to provide a complete referral service.

We provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including EMG, nerve conduction studies, brainstem auditory evoked response testing (BAER) to diagnose deafness, comprehensive muscle and nerve biopsy procedures, CT (on-site) and MRI scanning to complement more traditional techniques such as myelography. In addition, a fully-equipped surgical suite enables us to perform sophisticated neurosurgical procedures, including spinal surgery, brain surgery and the placement of ventriculoperitoneal shunts for the treatment of hydrocephalus when necessary.

Research interests of staff in the section include the treatment of epilepsy, the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours, the development of minimally invasive brain surgery techniques, syringomyelia and degenerative myelopathy.
