Faculty of Veterinary Science Veterinary Hospital

New teleradiology service available for vets

30 October 2009

The Veterinary Hospital’s diagnostic imaging service has expanded to include teleradiology which allows for images to be rapidly transmitted over the internet.

This provides clinicians with a more immediate response when seeking an opinion from radiologists, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment. The service is now able to directly accept DICOM images of radiographs, CT and MRI studies.

When you upload your images, a request form will be generated which we ask you to complete with the study details and history. To submit images to the Hospital, practices need to install a small software program. To install the program, contact DVMINSIGHT the company managing the Hospital’s teleradiology service on support@dvminsight.net and request that your practice have access to the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital's service.

Reports are provided by email within 48 hours of receiving the study. If you do not have digital imaging
in your practice, the Diagnostic Imaging team is still happy to receive radiographic films for reporting. These need to be forwarded to the Hospital and marked for the attention of “Diagnostic Imaging”. All films should be accompanied by a request form available on the Referring Veterinarians page.

For further information on the service or pricing, please contact Sylvia or Loryn in Diagnostic Imaging on 9731 2326.
